Car manufacturers publish their (technical) information all over the world, which poses problems relating to the speed with which the information will become available and the costs that will be incurred to achieve that. It is the European market that poses the greatest challenges. The costs are extremely high as a result of the large number of languages and the “time to market” is frequently a long process. The information that is produced must also be adapted to suit each market and that process is not always as efficient as it could be since the systems used to generate and manage the information are not always compatible with the publication facilities available to the importers on the local markets.
